I’m Sadarryle Evette Stephens from a small town in the southeastern region of North Carolina. After graduating from Elizabeth City State University with a Bachelor’s of Science degree, I shifted into my fashion journey. In 2014, I started my millinery brand, darraEvette, and expanded it to fashion design after applying to Academy of Art University. During my time at AAU, I discovered my love of art, streetwear, and fabric manipulation. I carried these ideas and combined them with my cognizance of black culture. The work presented below is a clear representation of my design voice. I aim to bring new ideas by draping unique shapes on the dress form and by creating my own textiles. This is my interpretation of wearable art. I hope you enjoy.
